Convert ASS or SSA to SRT
ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) supports fonts, colours, positioning and karaoke effects – common in anime fansubs. TVs and many players only read SRT, so the file has to be flattened.

Signs and overlapping lines
Fansubs often contain sign translations and song lyrics on separate layers at the same time as dialogue. In SRT they all stack at the bottom. Delete styles/lines you don't want or let the clean-up fix overlaps.
Convert
Open the .ass/.ssa in Cuemend, review the lines (edit or delete), optionally clean up tags and overlaps, and save as SRT. Saving as ASS again keeps the original styling, so you can keep both.
Fix the file once, for every player. Cuemend shifts, syncs (also automatically to the film's audio), converts and repairs subtitle files – SRT, VTT, ASS/SSA, SUB, SBV, TTML/DFXP – in your browser. The video and subtitles stay on your computer. Every single-file tool is free; a $7 lifetime license adds one-click auto-sync apply, batch work on many files and two-language subtitles.
Questions and answers
Can I convert SRT to ASS?
Yes, Cuemend saves ASS too, with a default style.
Why are some lines doubled?
ASS files often draw a line twice (outline + fill layers). Use clean-up › remove duplicates.
